Which perfume should I give as a gift?
Start with what they already wear. If they love sweet scents, stay with vanilla and amber; if they prefer something light, go for citrus and white musk. If you have no idea at all, choose a gift that leaves the final choice to them.
Three questions before you choose
- What is the perfume they wear now like? Sweet, fresh, floral or woody? One word is enough to get you started, and it’s the surest clue you have.
- When will they wear it? For work and daytime, something lighter. For evenings and winter, something richer.
- How sure are you? The less sure you are, the smaller the size, or the more choice you leave to them.
The notes almost everyone loves
- White musk and clean florals — the “just stepped out of the shower” scent. The safest gift there is. See what to ask for in perfumes that smell clean.

- Citrus and green notes — for anyone who says they “don’t like heavy perfumes”.
- Be careful with: smoky woods, leather, strong patchouli. They’re wonderful, but only if you know they love them.
If you have no idea what they like
