How do I make a bath at home feel like a spa?
You don’t need much: warm but not hot water, a soap that smells lovely, body oil or body butter on damp skin, and a little peace and quiet. The order is what makes the difference.
1Set the scene
Dim the lights and light a scented candle a little before you get in, so it has time to fill the room. Put your phone on silent.
2Warm, not hot, water
Very hot water dries out your skin and tires you out. Something a little above body temperature is enough, and 15 to 20 minutes is plenty.
3A soap worth having
Our soaps are handmade and leave a soft scent on your skin. Work them into a lather in your hands before you apply them.
4Body oil on damp skin
As soon as you get out, pat yourself lightly dry and apply body oil or body butter while your skin is still damp. This locks in moisture and keeps your skin soft for hours. See all our body care.
5Perfume last
On moisturised skin, perfume lasts much longer, and even better when your body care is in the same scent. More on how to make your perfume last longer.
And as a gift
A soap, a body oil and a candle make a lovely relaxation gift. Have a look at our gift boxes.
